At 36 weeks 2 days pregnant I found out my baby has flipped and is now breech. I can never tell what sorts of movements she is doing in there, so nothing really felt very different to me.
I’m really disappointed and scared because my husband and I have done a lot of preparation to have a natural birth at a birth center and having a breech baby would disqualify us from doing this. I’m also terrified of have a cesarean section because it is not at all how I imagined bringing my baby in to the world. And while I had prepared myself in my mind that a c-section might be necessary during labor if things weren’t progressing or there was an emergency, I never prepared myself for going in to birth knowing that I would be having one and I will be so disappointed if I don’t even get to TRY birthing naturally.
My midwife gave me a few positions that I can do at home to encourage baby to flip. So I will most definitely be doing my homework. They also scheduled me for an External Cephalic Version(ECV) next Monday, but I’m really not sure I want to go through that procedure. Or if I do try an ECV I might rather wait until 38 weeks to try other gentler methods.
I was able to schedule appointments today with a chiropractor who is certified in the Webster Technique and also an acupuncturist who will be trying that and moxibustion. So I look forward to posting on how that all goes.
For now my plan is to research all of my options. I’ll be sharing them here as well in hopes that having a list could help someone else who finds herself in a similar time crunch. As with anything else, I’d really prefer to try alternative techniques and things I can do at home before trying more aggressive techniques.
