Fuzzibunz is under new ownership and they have debuted their new One-Size Adjustable Cloth Diaper! This new One-Size diaper is a little different in that it comes in either a size Small or Large. I was sent one of each to facilitate this review in order to compare and contrast the fit. The sizing seemed a little confusing to me at first since it is a one-size diaper but I actually LOVE the concept since my 9 month old daughter is super tiny at just above 14lbs and her skinny thighs sometimes do not fill out one-size diapers fully.
The FuzziBunz One-Size Adjustable Cloth Pocket Diaper has a great range of snaps to fit a wide range of waist sizes. Each diaper comes with a microfiber inset to stuff through the pocket. The inserts have a contoured shape which I find lays nicer in the diaper and there are no “ridges” that fold up. However, I did find it a little bit more difficult to stuff the size small diaper since it is narrower to get my hand through. But the PUL is not “sticky” like some diapers so the insert slides easily in to place.
Let me elaborate on the sizing. The Small is labeled as fitting from 7-30 pounds and the Large from 10-45 pounds. So, even though they are “sized” they still fit from birth to potty training as one-sized diapers are made to do. You can see in the photos below that the Small is narrower than the Large and just a bit shorter as well. For my little chicken this made a HUGE difference for us in the fit and gave a more streamlined fit which I appreciated.
To get an even more customized fit Fuzzibunz has both adjustable leg and rear waist elastic. This is my favorite feature of Fuzzibunz because we do experience leg leaks occasionally with our diapers because of gapping. To be honest we did have a leak in the Fuzzibunz the first time she wore it but never again after tightening the elastic. What an awesome feature! The back of the waist is also adjustable by elastic if needed.
Below are photos of my daughter wearing the size Small (blue) and the size Large (yellow) to show how they fit differently. The size small is far less bulky on her petite frame but will obviously fit her for quite some times as we have many waist snaps to let out and can loosen the elastic as necessary. The size Large functions great and can still be adjusted to the perfect fit in the legs but it has a lot more bulk with the extra fabric that she just doesn’t fill out yet.
As far as which size you should choose, it really just depends on your baby’s size and shape. I would obviously only choose the size Small diapers for my daughter based on fit. The Small is made to fit from 7-30 pounds so this would be the diaper you would use from birth. The Large fits from 10-45 pounds so unless you have a very big newborn the large might not fit in the beginning but would fit longer depending on when your toddler decides to potty train.
