The CDC has been reporting that this year’s flu strain is especially virulent. Those who are experiencing a sudden onset of fever, muscle and joint aches, fatigue, headache, dry cough, sore throat and/or runny nose should be evaluated for the flu. However, those experiencing flu-like symptoms are urged to stay away from Emergency Rooms. Wouldn’t it be so convenient to meet with a Board Certified Physician from the comfort of your own home? Especially when you are feeling ill and not wanting to leave the house. With Doctor On Demand this now possible AND they are offering free first time video visits (details below)!
Doctor On Demand allows you to meet face-to-face with a physician by video conferencing on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop/desktop computer. Doctor On Demand Physicians can diagnose, treat, and write prescriptions for the flu and any other non-emergency medical conditions. Yes, you read that correctly. They can even prescribe the necessary medications!

I had the opportunity to use the Doctor On Demand service several months ago and was very impressed. The app was easy to download and use on my smartphone. I was able to input some preliminary info for the reason for calling. I had a minimal wait time to connect with a doctor and once connected the doctor was respectful and personable and I felt comfortable discussing some questions regarding my then 6 month old daughter’s health. The visit was very similar to an in-office visit and he asked many questions to help rule out different things. I was very pleased with the time that he took in patient education towards the end of our visit as well. To read my original post about my Doctor On Demand experience please click here.
