When my daughter was 2 months old we brought her to the emergency room of our local hospital. When some of her blood work came back with abnormal readings we were very worried. Luckily, their pediatrics department is staffed by physicians from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the attending ER physician had them come consult with us about her test results. We were then referred to a specialist at the main hospital for further evaluation.
I knew that CHOP was the best place for us to go for our daughter’s care because they are one of the best children’s hospitals in the world. I remember being very nervous driving to our first appointment and trying to find our way around the hospital. The staff and atmosphere is completely different than I imagined it would be and we immediately felt welcomed and that we were in good hands. Every staff member we encountered was accommodating and personable, making us feel a little more at ease.
The medical care was top notch and our physician was gentle and kind. He really listened to everything we had to say and was wonderful at explaining what he was looking for and why. The communication between appointments was quick and easy. I’ve never had a physician who was so quick to respond or relay test results as quickly as our specialist at CHOP. We are thankful to have been released from further care and our daughter is now a thriving toddler.
As I’ve recently shared on the blog, our infant son was born with Cystic Fibrosis. It is important to receive care for this life-threatening genetic disease at a certified clinic and we feel great comfort that the clinic near us is an affiliate site of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. If our son should ever require any specialized care then we would be at one of the world’s most renowned children’s hospitals and I would be confident he would be receiving the best treatments.
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s stellar reputation and cutting edge research means parents can be sure that their child will be well cared for when facing a complex medical situation. But CHOP offers so much more than the top quality care that they are known for providing to ill children.
