We tried our first Buttons Diapers back in 2014 and are still using those same ones today on our second baby. So, I’m obviously a fan of this All-In-Two diaper system and I’m excited to share with you why they are so great. Plus, there are some ridiculously cute new prints that are a little hard to resist.
What is an All-In-Two Cloth Diaper?
An All-In-Two (AI2) diaper system means that there is a separate cover and then removable inserts for absorbancy. This is great for saving space in your diaper bag, cutting down on laundry, and saving money. The inserts are also fool-proof as they snap right in so there is no complicated folding or stuffing, which is perfect for caregivers who may not be familiar with cloth diapers. The covers are essentially reusable so long as they are not soiled. I usually give mine a quick wipe and a minute to air out then snap a new insert in and put the diaper cover right back on.
AI2 diapers are also really care-giver friendly. Cloth diapers have a way of intimidating those who aren’t familiar with using them but there is no real way to go wrong with these because the inserts snap right where they are supposed to go.
The inserts from Buttons Diapers come in a microfiber option as well as a hemp/cotton blend. If you need a really budget friendly option to build your stash quickly then the microfiber is extremely affordable and they will definitely get the job done. However, as a 3 year cloth diaper veteran I have found natural fibers to be both more absorbent and durable. So, we prefer the hemp/cotton blend inserts for our Buttons Diapers. Regardless of which absorbency material you choose, the insert will have a soft fleece on the top to pull moisture away from baby’s skin and keep them feeling dry. If you have a very heavy wetter or need extra absorbency for naps/bed time then there is a night time doubler that can be added to the diapers.
The covers are very well made. We have even used them many times with other brands of fitted diapers and always have been happy with the fit. There are adjustable waist and rise snaps which are super important to achieve a great fit (these will grow with babies approximately 9-35lbs!). There are also double gussets which really do offer increased protection against diaper blowouts so they are one of my favorite features when deciding on a new cloth diaper brand. And something that I don’t see featured on many other diaper brands is elastic at the tummy. This really ensures a tighter fit around the waist so there is less gapping and wetness escaping. If you have a tummy sleeper then this has helped keep wetness inside for us and may help you, too!
Overall I’m very happy with the All-In-Two diaper system from Buttons Diapers. They not only feature adorable prints and a wide range of solids (including this ridiculously cute limited edition lumberjack plaid!), but are more effective at leak protection compared to other diaper designs. Plus they are easy to use! As someone who has cloth diapered for (almost!) 3 years I most definitely recommend Buttons Diapers and can attest to their quality.
Buttons Diapers are available for purchase on their website, Amazon.com, and select cloth diaper retailers. They offer a variety of cloth diaper products and accessories including wet bags and cloth wipes, as well as wool dryer balls and reusable cloth feminine pads.
