Introducing Your Infant/Toddler To Swimming on National Learn To Swim Day

May 17, 2017 by Laura 10 Comments

This post was sponsored by SwimWays as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Swimming was my favorite Summer activity as a kid. I was lucky enough to have a pool growing up so I spent time in the pool all day every day. Teaching our children to swim and get comfortable being in and around the water is important to us because our community has private swimming pools and lakes where we will be spending most of our time this Summer.

We are gearing up for National Learn to Swim Day on May 2o with SwimWays. Because we have the opportunity to play near the water daily it is important to teach our children water safety and swimming skills. My three year old understands the importance of having her swim vest on and always having an adult near the water with her but continue to give her safety refreshers on that lesson.  My 18 month old is being introduced to the water this summer after a few unsuccessful attempts last summer when he was still a fussy infant and not interested. We are still easing him in to it because, well, toddlers are finicky and he only liked it for a few seconds, haha. No matter what your child’s age teaching water safety should be part of your Summer plans as pools, lakes, and beaches start to open.

The SwimWays Baby Spring Float Sun Canopy is the perfect way to introduce your infant or toddler to the water. The float is durable and comfortable for baby and offers nice support for sitting so they can enjoy the water. The supportive soft mesh seat allows extra space around baby’s body for toys and splashing. The outer ring blows up with air for flotation and when not blown up the entire float can be folded up in the travel bag for easy transport and storage. Though we’ve only tested out our SwimWays float indoors so far I love that there is a detachable sun canopy to shield baby’s precious skin from UV rays. As the weather gets hotter and our outdoor swimming pools start to open I look forward to having that extra sun protection available because hats always have a way of finding their way off.

The SwimWays Baby Spring Float Sun Canopy is available now at Target (both in-store and online). To learn more about SwimWays and their other flotation devices be sure to visit their website. To learn more about National Learn To Swim Day visit the Teach Me To Swim website.

I love this! I wish we had taught our kids to swim when they were really little – I think it’s so much easier then, and it makes them safer in and near water.

This post reminds me so much of when we introduced the little ones to the pool. Now they all love getting in the water and it takes forever to get them to get out of the pool! LOL!!

This is so cute! My daughter who is 3 loves the water but my son who is 5 is so afraid of the water. He’s far too old to fit in the canopy though LOL

This canopy is so cute. My daughter has plans of teaching my granddaughter how to swim and this would be perfect for her. She is 21 month, just a little older than your son.

I love that it has a canopy. What is the actual UVP? Or does it list it? I live in Florida and have some baby niece and nephews that could use this.

Teaching children water safety is so important. This is a great way to introduce little ones to water safety under a caregivers loving eye.

This canopy looks perfect and is so cute! I don’t have any children, but I definitely need to think of someone who can use this. Introducing children to water and swimming at a young age is so important.
